March’s Reel Aging event will focus on LGBTQ+ older adults and explore the different challenges that they face on a daily basis and where to go from here. Many older adult’s end up going back into the closet, denying their identity as they face discrimination in society. We will be watching Gen Silent which will highlight the need for action in supporting equality for older adults.

February’s Reel Aging event will focus on healthy living and longevity in older adults!

Do you ever wonder why people living in Blue Zones, six specific geographical niches across the world, have longer than average life expectancies compared to anywhere else in the world? What do they do differently? We’ll explore different healthy lifestyles which help these individuals live longer and productive lives.

This documentary will be followed by a panel discussion from experts in gerontology and healthy living in seniors

Forever Young


Hi Everyone!

Welcome back to another year with Reel Aging! To start off this year big, Reel Aging will be collaborating with the Alzheimer’s Society of Toronto for our January event as it will be held at the Hot Docs Cinema (506 Bloor St.).

We will be showing Much Too Young, a documentary which follows young caregivers to people with dementia. This will be followed by a panel discussion with some caregivers and experts in the field. The event is pay-what-you-can with all proceeds going back to the Alzheimer’s Society.

Welcome back everyone!

Its an honour to start up Reel Aging once again! Our October event will be focused on Financial Literacy and Elder Abuse. We will be watching The Last Will and Embezzlement followed by a discussion regarding the financial exploitation of older adults.

Our panel will consist of Laura Tamblyn Watts, a practising lawyer with the Factor-Inwentash Faculty of Social Work and the Canadian Centre for Elder Law, and David Borenstein the Investigations Manager from the Ombudsman’s Office for Banking Services and Investments.
